Helping schools with social distancing
Listed Under: News
As Primary Schools across England are currently undertaking the mammoth task of preparing to reopen from 1st June, we look at how social distancing is even more challenging for children, teachers and support workers.
The phased returned to primary schools starts with Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 pupils, as outlined by the Government earlier this month. In these unprecedented times, it is not surprising to hear that concerns have been raised of how social distancing using the 2metre rule, can work effectively, particularly with younger children.
With each school ensuring that every precaution is taken to keep pupils and staff safe, we look at onsite social distancing signs and sanitising resources to aid a smooth transition.
Child friendly social distancing signage
The COVID-19 pandemic has been very confusing to us all and none more so than our children. Having social distancing signs around schools which are easier to read, clear and brightly coloured, can be a helpful reminder in a friendly way. Fun directional arrows, floor and wall stickers can all help enforce new operational safety procedures, in a relaxed yet digestible way for children.
More lessons outside to aid social distancing
Where facilities allow, lessons outside will be encouraged to aid social distancing. Outside signage to keep pupils safe, comforted and provide clear boundaries, will help pupils and teachers create an environment focused on learning rather the new restrictions. Care must also be taken to ensure all signage is installed correctly, adhering to current health and safety regulations.
Cleaning areas and sanitising stations in schools
Hand washing has always been prioritised as one of the main defences to help stop the spread of coronavirus. Within each schools new operational procedures, cleaning stations with soap, hand sanitiser, disinfectant spray and cloths, need clear and concise instructions on when and where to use each cleaning aid. Fun hand washing signage for children is an easy way to support new routines as part of the fight against COVID-19.
